Kennedy’s Softball team is a diverse, hard-working group. They’ve pushed harder and harder each game. Their strengths as a team have shown in their games and practices. The team deserves recognition for their strong sense of unity, passion, and teamwork. The players are all different and unique but despite their differences they come together as a unit, whether it’s on the homefield or away.
First and foremost, the team has tons of variety. Players like Brooklyn Medina, and Mia Briseno have played ever since they were little, while other players like Angela Hernandez only ever started freshmen year. Some players are able to play as utilities and be in multiple positions. While others are more specialized in positions like shortstop or catcher. Teams also vary in age from seniors to freshmen.
“It’s the kind of environment where everyone’s individual strengths can come together to make the whole team stronger.” Briseno, Junior.
The Softball girls are a passionate bunch. It’s their determination that makes them stand out. They have an endless goal of self-improvement. Because each time they play they recognize the importance they have to their team. They work together in order to overcome obstacles that stand in their way. The softball girls always give it their all, so they won’t let down their team. And it’s that very bond that pushes them further and further. It’s a passion they say. A passion for the game and the team.
“What pushes me to keep playing is my team, I never want to let them down” Hernandez, Sophomore.
“Something that pushes me to keep going is my team, I always want to be better for my team” Medina, Junior.
However, despite their determination and difference their strengths are as a unit. The softball girls create an encouraging yet competitive environment where the team’s strengths can be felt. Specifically, the team emphasizes communication and positivity that in turn makes bonds between them. Laughter and music help build these strong connections more so. The softball girls understand the importance of personal growth and team success, which is what makes them more than a team but a family.
“Teammates are always there to lift each other up whether it’s a mistake on the field or celebrating a big play “Briseno, Junior.
The Softball girls are a close-knit passionate bunch. They’re unique in their strengths and stronger together. Its team made on bonds and connections. Their collective passion works together to achieve the same goal. But the promising team wasn’t done yet. On April the 15th the Kennedy softball girls took on Memorial. This being a penultimate game for the season, as that’d decide whether they qualified for the playoffs
