

Abigayle Morin would best describe her high school experience with many ups and downs. Throughout her high school years, she has been involved with dance, played varsity volleyball, and is in the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Interact Club, Business Professionals of America, and Trinity Upward Bound. She is ranked 1st as valedictorian. She is planning to attend Texas Tech and study law. The last advice said by Morin is “not to give up; like when it gets hard, surround yourself with true friends, be kind to everyone, and be a good person overall.”

Guadalupe Del Cielo Flores Rios says her high school experience was “overwhelming. There were so many things to do and areas to explore. I met some amazing people and teachers who helped make my 4 years an amazing experience.” Her best moments at Kennedy were every single time she tried something new. “I experimented and stuck to different activities. I say this because it’s not just one thing that stands out to me but the fact that I put myself out there in the first place,” says Rios. Her biggest accomplishments are maintaining a 4.2 throughout high school, serving as the S-3 in JROTC, serving as vice president for NHS, serving as president of class officers, and making it through a whole season of softball during her sophomore year even though it was her first time playing sports. Rios involvement in extracurricular activities includes Mariachi freshman year, softball and NHS sophomore year, JROTC, class officers, and NHS senior year. She is ranked 2nd as the salutatorian. She is enlisting in the Air Force and plans to pursue her career in law enforcement. Rios advice is “Put yourself out there and experiment. If you want to try something, go for it. High school is the time for you to find yourself.”

Evelyn Kelly says her high school experience was okay through all of high school and her proudest moment is being top 10 in her class. She has no accomplishments from Kennedy High School that she’d like to share. Kelley says she has been in, “NHS, BPA, ROTC, SAGA—I was in them throughout all 4 years,” and her rank is 3rd. Kelley is going to Wesleyan University to study forensic accounting. Kelley’s last advice is “Do your work on time.”

Jazmin Vasquez would describe her high school experience as a rollercoaster: “When going up it’s exciting, but you know when going down it’s super scary. Meaning you never knew exactly what might happen, and the unexpected is to come. And finally, being at the end of the ride is such a great feeling.” Her proudest moment is the legacy she has. “Being selected as All-Star Athlete of the Year for Kennedy for KENS5 and with the accomplishments of being the first generation from her family to graduate and being able to receive the San Antonio Foundation Legacy Scholarship. Throughout her high school years, she has been involved in varsity soccer and volleyball from sophomore year till senior year. Varsity basketball freshman and sophomore year, Spanish and National Honor Society since freshman year too. She is ranked 4 and will be attending the University of the Incarnate Word to study nursing. The last advice by Vasquez is “Always be yourself; never let anyone change that you define what your future will look like.”

Abigail Lira can describe her high school experience as having its ups and downs but helping her become a better person because of this experience. Her proudest moment was whenever she made playoffs with her softball team in her freshman year and also again during her senior year. Lira’s biggest accomplishments were being a first-gen graduate in her family and graduating with her associate’s in liberal arts. Throughout her high school years, she has been involved in softball from freshman year to senior year, a member of NHS since sophomore year, and also helped with the yearbook by being a photographer for her junior and senior years. She is ranked 5th and will be attending Texas A&M University to study finance. Lira’s last advice is “Find a good balance between doing your work and having fun; it’s important to be on top of your work, but it’s also important to have fun and make memories.”

Miracle Gonzalez describes her experience as a challenging but rewarding experience. At every step, there was an obstacle to overcome, but after every battle, there was something to learn and cherish. Her proudest moment was when she did her signing for Arlington Baptist University. With her biggest accomplishments, “All Academics (4 years in a row), Second Team All-District Pitcher (Twice), First Team All-District (Twice), and KSAT 12 Scholar Athlete of the Week Award,” said Gonzalez. Gonzalez has been in softball 2021-2025, volleyball 2021-2024, National Honors Society 2022-2025, Interact Club 2022-2025, and Creative Writing Club 2024-2025. Her rank is 6th and she is attending Arlington Baptist University for early childhood education. Gonzalez’s last piece of advice is “Work hard now so when you start your life, you will be steps ahead of others. Always do your best in everything you do and never give up.”

Lacy Hernandez’s high school years are said to be, “I enjoyed all four years of high school. I participated in many extracurricular activities, achieved a lot academically, and made many memories with my friends.” Her brightest moment of Kennedy is how she is top 10 in her class, saying, “It was nice to know that all of the hard work I put into my schoolwork paid off,” and her biggest accomplishment is earning over $400,000 in scholarships. Hernandez has been involved with TRIO Upward Bound, the JFK dance team for 4 years, Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society, Interact Club for three years, Business Professionals of America, and a Filmer for the soccer team for two years. She is ranked 7th and will be attending Incarnate Word University to major in nursing. Hernandez’s last advice is “Do not procrastinate and aim for straight A’s.”

Sofia Serrano says her high school years were different from most but had moments where it was all worth it. Serrano’s proudest moment was “winning Nationals in BPA as the first in San Antonio, while I was representing my school in the process.” She’s been in band for all 4 years, BPA for all 4 years, and NHS for her senior year. Serrano is ranked 8th and will be attending UTSA and studying video design but wants to see what else awaits her. Serrano’s final advice is “Trying your best is better than not trying at all.”

Donatela Galvan speaks on her high school experience: “It was very challenging, but I was able to push through with the motivation of my friends,” said Galvan. Her proudest moment was when she was announced in the top 10. She has participated in ROTC, color guard, and the academics team throughout high school. She is ranked 9 and will be attending Palo Alto College to study veterinary medicine. Galvan’s last advice is “Just balance your work and classes; don’t sign up for too much if you aren’t sure if you will be overwhelmed or not.”

Gabriela Serrano says, “I would describe my high school experience as fun and VERY challenging!”. Her proudest moment is when she got offered to be in NHS for her outstanding grades and attendance, and her biggest accomplishment is “I am an early college student who is graduating with an associate’s degree before even getting my high-school diploma.” Serrano has been in the band for all 4 years. She is ranked 10th and will be going to UTSA for video design, and wants to explore more options like animation, or even graphic designing. Serrano’s last advice is “Push on. It is challenging to do things or even put yourself out there at first, but it will get better and one day it will all be worth it.”
