Social studies teacher and coach Edward Bocanegra assists juniors George Ramirez and Phillip Narvaez with an assignment.
Edward Bocanegra runs around in class, making sure his students are working by checking their paper and writing down checkmarks if the assignment has been completed while drinking plenty of water.
“Coach B” as he is known is very proactive, always handing out the class assignments to his students. Bocanegra knows how to gain his students’ attention and make his class assignments more enticing.
Bocanegra is a father as well as a history teacher and is also one of our school’s football coaches. His position within our football team is that of the strategist.
With the help of Bocanegra and the rest of the coaching staff, Kennedy managed to beat Memorial High School in the Salsa Bowl game, 31-12.
Bocanegra has a daughter that graduated recently from Kennedy High School and is most definitely proud of his daughter as well as the athletes that he teaches.
He majored in Kinesiology but loves social studies and described it as “my passion other than football.”
Bocanegra has been teaching students for 15 years in total. “Two years at Corpus Christi Miller as an Assistant Football Coach and Head Softball Coach five years at Rockport Fulton”
“I was offense coordinator for those five years, and I did head power lifting,” Bocanegra said. “I became an athletic director at Pearsall.
