Unrivaled is a professional women’s basketball 3v3 league that features six teams with six players each going head-to-head for a shot at the inaugural title and cash rewards. This women’s league is in collaboration with the biggest stars in women’s basketball, co-founded by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart in 2023.
The leagues roster consists of a total of 36 players across each of the six clubs which are The Laces Basketball Club, Lunar Owls, Mist, Phantom, Rose, and Vinyl. The head coaches for each of the clubs are Andrew Wade for The Laces, DJ Sackmann for The Lunar Owls, Phil Handy for The Mist, Adam Harrington for The Phantom, Nola Henry for The Rose, and Teresa Weatherspoon for The Vinyl.
Unrivaled gives the players, coaches, and fans of women’s basketball more entertainment and competition while the WNBA season is in the offseason. This allows for more rivalries and personal competition between players.
Even though Unrivaled may seem like a small league or unrecognized by most people, it definitely has potential and benefits towards the women who are a part of it. For example, nearly all the players are making more than $100,000, and there’s more than $8 million in the salary pool.
Overall, Unrivaled Women’s Basketball has the potential to be something bigger in the future for women’s basketball and opens doors for multiple opportunities in and outside the league.
