It’s important to maintain straight A’s in school, but it’s hard doing so while also doing other extracurricular activities, like the National Honor Society. Not a lot of students can say they’ve accomplished this, but one student can: Genesis Lopez Euceda is a great student who has maintained all A’s the whole year and done a great job at John F. Kennedy’s spanish spelling bee.
Although it’s Genesis’s first year as a student at Kennedy, she still works hard to make sure her grades are up. While being a sophomore, she participated and won the Edgewood spelling bee and was able to beat Memorial and Fine Arts contestants, who are Kennedy’s rivals.
“You could tell she was prepared, but what stood out the most was her confidence,” said Ms. Esquivel, her honors society club teacher.
She completed in Region 20 on February 11th and placed in 5th.
Esquivel acknowledged this was very advanced vocabulary but knows Genesis is capable of doing it. With this, she also has an advantage because Spanish is her first language, as she is from Honduras.
